Why we’re driven to make a difference
The retail industry has always been a tough game when you’re the one operating. Paper-thin margins, cutthroat competition, and fickle customer trends. One of us even watched a close family member forced to shutter their beloved franchise, a casualty of this very problem. Our shared career experience at UberEats (Careem), and a 15M$ seed-funded cloud-kitchen put us on the frontlines of these issues.
The pandemic was the breaking point, where retailers who missed out on crucial decisions got left behind while those who had market visibility, drove consequent decisions and weathered the storm. The gap widens every year and it’s the kind of recipe you don’t want to be cooking up. We saw a need to level the playing field and provide every store-owner with the competitive insights they deserve. Dotlas was our answer.
Founders on a mission, born from a shared purpose
We bootstrapped our vision to improve market transparency through observability. We realized that when retailers rely solely on guesstimates, sales and anecdotes, they end up with myopic decision-making, and don’t see where they stack up on the market landscape. We assembled a team spanning the globe - from California to Brazil, the Middle East to India. Our diverse backgrounds, united by a common purpose, fuel our commitment to creating a solution that is more than just numbers on a screen.
Dotlas is an actionable, trustworthy, and responsive market sandbox. Incubated in the heart of innovation at UC Berkeley SkyDeck’s Pad-13 program, we developed a means through Data, AI & Automation at-scale to feasibly put this in the hands of retail enterprises. Every insight we deliver is meticulously crafted, grounded in real-world data, and designed to drive tangible results.
